This first week of summer got off to a rocky start. You see, this momma had to come to the sad, but true, realization that Dash is no long on my schedule. Worst. We can no longer do together, what I was going/wanted to do. Such a bummer. Once I maned up and realized the issue at hand, it was simple. I created a schedule for us to follow with a set wake up time, a nice long walk/bike/scooter ride in morning, meal times, spots for the summer fun jar pick, book time, a little quiet rest time, and of course the park. Its not so much about specific "times" as it is about routine I suppose, and good Lord did it change our lives. I actually can't believe that creating even a loose schedule didn't cross my mind sooner, hello, I DO coach parents on the success and benefits of doing this for-a-living. Oops! Oh well. Needless to say, creating the routine was a snap and life as we once knew it was back on track!
You may be wondering if we are really keeping up with the summer jar-o-fun in this house. Answer, YES. It has been so much fun, and really, sort of a lifesaver as to what the doo-doo we are supposed to do all day long. So far we have gone to jump our brains out at Jumpin, eaten a meal at Godfather's Pizza (Dash's favorite), made our own bath crayons, took a walk in the rain, went bowling (where Dash man got 2 spares all by his big boy self), went antique hunting, had a scavenger hunt, and today on the agenda...a drum lesson! Hanging out with Dash is the best way to spend this life and I feel so lucky its all I have to be doing for now. He is so charming, goofy and witty. I could not ask for a better little person to spend my time with!
