It is FINALLY here, summer!!! Thank. the. Lord. Today begins 77 days of a warm, obligation free, relaxing, do-what-you-want-when-you-want, no working, no alarm clocks, pure Dash and Momma, pseudo housewife of Cheyenne, fun summer. Ah time, how I have longed for you. Literally Longed. I am So grateful for this time to just take the responsibility of work off of my plate for a while and give room to some very neglected areas around this castle of ours.
Q: Soooooo what in the world are the three of us going to do for 77 dog days???
A: Whatever we dern well feel like. Ahhh yea.
Dash and I sat down this week and cut strips of white paper out. On each strip of paper we wrote down an activity, adventure, craft, or idea to do together. Next, we folded the paper in half and put it in our summer fun jar. Each day we will pick one (or two) to do together. We came up with some goodies if I do say so myself; visit Denver Aquarium, find a new park in town to play at, make a lemonade stand, camp in the back yard, make your own side walk paint and use it, and, well you get the idea. I'm tellin you people, its all fun, all day 'round here this summer. We are so excited to play our way through the jar! So excited in fact, that we started ta-day, afterall it IS officially summer vacation! We happen to choose "visit Jumpin" and for those of you who don't own a little person in this area, that is a random goldmine in a Loveland, CO strip mall filled with bounce houses where children go to run wild and bounce their brains out. Its brilliant. So we loaded up and off we went. It was all you can imagine it would be; hot, sweaty, loud, but also filled with giggles, wild hair flying around, drool dripping from excitement, and making new friends. All in all a complete success. Once we were officially overheated and dehydrated, we headed home. We had so much fun with our first selection from the jar, we decided to do another. This time, "eat at Godfather's Pizza." Dash was over the moon. Godfather's is his favorite pizza joint! So off we went. And again for those of you unfortunate souls who have never experienced this place, let me fill you in. It is sort of like a poor mans chuckie cheese, walking in the front doors feels a lot like walking in to 1989. They have arcade games, two with guns (those are what Dash loves) a teenage mutant ninja turtles one, and um, I can't even remember the other, but you get it. They have a claw game, duh, and rows upon rows of candy machines. And wait, I forgot to mention, the sticky hands and large tattoos you can also get for the bargain price of 25 cents. I'm no dummy, so of course I loaded up Dash's pockets with $5 in quarters before we even arrived. I think that alone prolly sealed my spot for momma of the year in Dash Man's eyes! We ordered 1/2 Taco Pizza (heaven), 1/2 pepperoni (for the boy) and gobbled it up!
Needless to say, we started this summer off with a big, fat, bang. We finally settled in at home and created our summer scrapbook page.
(oh yea, we're doing a page a night to reflect upon and remember every single "fun" from the jar. Figure it will be a nice way to save a memory and duh, work on concepts of print, reading, story telling, etc. clearly I AM a teacher, poor dash, ha ha)
And as long as we end every single day like this...
It will be the best summer ever!!!
