make a wish.

I gots to take a minute to plug one of my favorite organizations, so here goes...
As you all know (or have been told) you feel better when you give to others. For me, its true. However, when I hear this I know it is usually going to involve mula, and as a gal with a bun in the oven (and a much desired, but unpaid, maternity leave on the horizon), I really cannot "give" any treasure, as they call it. However, time, now that's something I think can never really be denied. It is a choice and I choose to find it, and give it. I have been a make a wish volunteer for six years now, and I love it today the exact same way I did the day I started, tre-mend-ious-lyyyyy
And to be fair, make a wish has given to me just as much, if not more, than I have given to them. As some of you may know, I snagged my handsome husband at a make a wish event. Whaaa?! Yep, for reals. And now, we BOTH volunteer. Naturally. This weekend the hubs and I were given the oppertunity to meet a speacial little guy here in Cheyenne. As always it was amazing to meet the family, hear their story, and work with them to make a dream come true. These little visits always serve as an excellent reminder to me that even when I think things aren't great, they are. And really, as long as we have our health and our safety, we have it all. Of the families we meet, their bravery, strength, and courage never fails to leave me thinking NO ONE deserves something great more than them.
Now is the part where I tell you all to go out and volunteer for your local make a wish chapter. They are everywhere, and I promise, you will not regret doin' it. The organization is extremely grateful and respectful of your willingness to help, therefore they are always flexible. You can help once a year or once a month. You can decide if you want to meet the children making the wish (my fav), or if you would rather do more behind the scenes schtuff like scrap booking. Come on friends, as least say you'll entertain the idea. Its free, its flexible, its fun, and shoot, the do-gooding could help ya, maybe just maybe, snag yo self a good looking soul mate! Just sayin.
