Well I am turning 30 this year, and actually looking forward to it. I am grateful for everyday, but good Lord some of the days my 20s brought were brutal! I find it sort of crazy looking back that I had events which molded me years 0 thru 19, but 20 to 29 have literally changed me and taken me places I never imagined I would find myself (in both good and bad ways). But, that is probably a whole other blog. As I turn 30 I realize I am slipping out of the "loop." Whaaa whaaatt? I know, I mean its 30 not 60. At any rate two recent events have slapped me in the face and helped me to realize...its official, there are things I just don't get, let alone even realize existed.
First is "the dougie." As in doin the dougie, or teach me how to dougie. My patient brother in law first clued me into this on Christmas, when for whatever reason he began dancing and doing HIS dougie as I sat on a sofa with my mother in law and sister in law, laughing my ass off. He bounced around, squatting and fanning himself. It was impressive to say the least! Ha ha ha, I am smiling still about it as I type. Feeling out of it, I googled (yes I do know about google) and realized everyone who is anyone is doin the dougie. So needless to say we began to integrate into our lives as much as possible, duh, we want to be with it. We watched sports celebrities do it, we downloaded the song, and at one point I overheard AAron replace the end of Dash's favorite story (Sylvester and the Magic Pebble) with daddy doing the dougie, rather than just jumping for joy. I think its safe to say we are up to speed on this one...finally :-).
The next is the whole moustache on the finger gag. I know its been around for a while, but I thought it was so stupid I did the old I'll-do-this-stupid-antic-a-favor-and-look-the-other-way thing. However, its still seems to be around. What the hell? Some are even getting it permanently inked. Come on. Ick. I can see how it could have been perceived as clever by some simpleton somewhere, but an actual trend gracing facebook photos everywhere?! This is one odd trend the Icenhower/Dobson/Ontiveroz home will not be participating in. No matter how old it makes me sound, I gotta say it (with a crunchy, sour face nonetheless) I just don't get it.
talk soon.

Is it possible that I am old enough to not get things???
