Dash version 3.5

Today is Dash's Haffy Birthday. For those of you unlucky enough to NOT know, a Haffy Birthday is a celebration of one's half birthday, or a party for being another half year older. If you are anything like my husband, you are rolling your eyes and insisting this is the stupidest idea, clearly invented by an only child. However, that is not true. By my definition, it is a celebration created by a teacher (me) to allow children with summer birthdays (also, me) a chance to celebrate, hoot, holler, and have treats during the school year like the other friends. Harmless and fun!
We have been celebrating Dash's Haffy Birthday, since he was .5 year old! He loves the idea of any party for him, about him, duh. But, he really seems to feel and act more grown up too! I love this turning point because from here on out when anyone asks him how old he is, he'll answer 3 and a half. So funny.
So, I hope you all at the very least consider starting your own Haffy birthday tradition. We keep ours simple with the guest of honor choosing a dinner spot and getting just a few small gifts. Oh and I always bring a small treat. This year Dash blew out a candle in a brownie. When I asked him what he wished for, he said, "a doughnut hole." :-).
Here's to hoping his wish, and all of yours come true!!!
