in my most recent attempt to bond with my kids, i decided to bring back "movies with mommy" aka movie night. typically we would just order something off of the tv, grab some junk food that's been in the cupboard for a month or so, throw on soft pants and veg-outt. and do not get me wrong, that is a good time, but on this particular occasion, i wanted to step up my game. so i brainstormed. and in my brainstorm i realized that movie rental stores seem to be extinct. say whaaaa?! worst! how did i miss this disappearance?! its so very sad. i used to LOVE when my parents would take me to blockbuster video. i would walk and walk and walk through the aisles of covers, shopping if you will, knowing darn good and well, i was going to check out some pee wee herman number (don't judge) and "girls just want to have fun" for the nine millionth time. duh. ahhhh, the good old days.
how sad that my littles would never know this adventure.
then i thought, hold up, we live in cheyenne, wyoming. the town where nothing truly dies. the land where roller city is still rockin lockins. the land where you can eat pizza and play packman in the same chair. the place where flip phones can be seen just as often
(ok, ok more often) than an iphone.
i knew there HAD to be a video store lurking somewheressss.
and i was right.
there is indeed a lone standing, very nice, NEW(oddly), clean, dvd rental store, right here in town! woot!
we went and we scored the best movies...and treats (duh).
thanks to that little video store i felt for that night i was able to show my kids greatness in goofiness. we made a memory. we took the time to just sit and enjoy each other. we stayed within our five dollar budget, and p.s that bad A store gave out free dum-dums.
oh, and no, we did not involve pee wee herman, at all.
it was the most perfect evening.
